Hoops for Hope

This past Sunday, about 12 MBA students volunteered at the Women’s Basketball game Hoops for Hope event. NCSU took on Wake Forest at 5pm in Reynolds Coliseum with a sold out audience. All proceeds from raffles, apparel and ticket sales went to the Kay Yow Foundation for fighting Breast Cancer.

Our job was to split up into 4 groups at each corner of the floor. Breast cancer survivors lined up in each corner based on the number of years they’ve been in remission, and we organized the group and passed out pink scarves and feather boas to each person. We helped make sure they were able to get on and off the floor safely and quickly. Half time entertainment also included a special performance by NC’s celebrity, Scotty McCreery!

We all wore matching t-shirts that the Dean graciously provided for MBA students. We will be able to wear these t-shirts, designed by our classmate Caroline Chamblee Lewis, to other service/volunteer events we do throughout the year! We were all excited to be able to help out at this amazing event!

The group!

All of the survivors!

This was about as close to Scotty as I could get! TV Cameras blocked my good views!
